Mrs. Dorothy “Dot” Jane Fountain, age 82, passed away Sunday, November 19, 2017 at Brookdale Assisted Living in Woodstock, GA.

Born December 5, 1934 in Pickens County, GA, she was the daughter of the late Voyd and Mauda Long.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas “Tommy” Fountain, and her sister, Ruby Holbert.

She was a former member of Pleasant Hope Baptist Church in Silver Creek and a current member of First Baptist Church Woodstock, GA.

She is survived by her four sons and their wives: Steve Mashburn (Rita), John Mashburn (Sue), Michael Mashburn (Patricia) and Tracy Sweeney (Cindy); seven brothers: Johnny Long, Wayne Long (Mildred), Coy Long (Ronda), Marvin Long (Mary), Jack Long (Lea), David Long (Kathy), and Lesley Long; two sisters: Odell Hales and Martha Ann Mulkey (Tom); eight grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at 2:30 pm at Miller and Richards Oaknoll Chapel Funeral Home 2542 Shorter Avenue, Rome, GA 30165 with the Rev. Joel Walker officiating.

Interment will follow at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm at Oaknoll Chapel.

Dorothy had four husbands:

Allen Banks Mashburn – father of her four sons, divorced

Thomas Augustus Sweeney – adopted Tracy (Thomas Augustus Sweeney, Jr), died of cancer

Jim Norton  – died of cancer

Thomas Fountain – died of complications from a fall off of a ladder.

Mr. George “Tommy” Thomas Fountain, 85, of Rome, passed away Monday, October 26, 2015 at a local hospital.

Born October 29, 1929 in Rome, he was the son of the late Henry Webster Fountain and the late Nora Mae Turner Fountain. He was retired from Bekaert Corporation. He was a member of Pleasant Hope Baptist Church in Silver Creek. He was always busy working around his house. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Norman Franklin Fountain.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Fountain; his stepsons and their wives, Steve Mashburn (Rita), John Mashburn (Sue), Michael Mashburn (Patricia) and Tracy Sweeney (Cindy); his nephew, Rene Fountain; and his cousins, James Fountain and Butch Fountain.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Pleasant Hope Baptist Church, 5395 Rockmart Road SE, Silver Creek, GA 30173 with The Reverend Joel Walker officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. at Oaknoll Chapel.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Ed Proctor, Steve Mashburn, John Mashburn, Rene Fountain, James Fountain and Terry Fountain.
