Mashburns and the Revolutionary War

It appears that only two MASHBURN men served with the Continental Army. Both were probably of the Onslow County Branch.

Mashborne, Edward
8th NC Regiment
1777-1778
enlisted 2/9/1777
a Private under Capt. Robert Raiford for 3 years.
Dropped from the rolls in Feb. 1778.

Mashburn, William
2nd NC Regiment 1781-1782
enlisted 5/19/1781
a Private under Capt. Benjamin Carter.
Discharged on 5/19/1782.

It also appears that the Western NC Branch were Tories, either by choice or conscription.
