THE HOME BASE BRANCH

Since Hertford was formed from part of Northampton Co., the following Mashborns in Hertford Co. might have still been living on land that had been owned by Edward the schoolmaster.

Hertford Co. NC
Matthew Mashborn, 8 whites, 1 slave
William Mashborn, 7 whites
Charity Massbonn, 7 whites

THE ONSLOW BRANCH

Onslow Co. NC
James Mashbourn, 3 whites
Joseph Mashbourn, 8 whites, 7 slaves
Mary Mashbourn, 5 whites

Duplin Co, NC
Christopher Mashbourn, 8 whites

NOTES: It appears that some members of the Onslow Branch moved to south central Georgia in the 1820/30’s. It is believe some of these Mashburns were the ancestors of the Pensacola, FL Mashburns who hold the longest running family reunion in the southeast..

THE WESTERN BRANCH

Burke Co., NC
David Mashburn, 3 whites
Matthew Mashburn, 3 whites
David Mashburn, 8 whites
Drury Mashburn, 4 whites

Orange Co., NC
Elisha Mashburn
James Mashburn
Josh Mashburn

NOTES: Elisha and James appear in Burke Co in 1800. In the 1830/40’s, many descendants of Elisha, James, David, Matthew and Drury went to northern Georgia and Tennessee.

THE MIDDLE BRANCH

Chatham Co. and Moore Co. are just south of Orange Co., but also close to Duplin Co. Therefore, it is difficult to know which branch these families belong to (or if they are separate branches.) Both the Western Branch and the Onslow Branch used the given names Matthew and Samuel (which were also used in England 100 years earlier).

Chatham Co., NC
Matthew Mashburn, 8 whites

Moore Co., NC
Samuel Mashburn, 7 whites
